How IoT protects service dogs. Here we present the pilot phase of a pioneering project: Adnexo GmbH, in co-operation with its partner Solution Process Experts SPE and the TG Cantonal Police.
In recent years, the work of the police corps has become increasingly specialised and sensitised. The use of specially trained dogs has become an integral part of many police activities. These loyal companions play a crucial role in investigating criminal offences, searching for missing persons and making major events and patrols safe. But while the dogs are indispensable partners, they also present police forces with a serious challenge - temperature control in emergency vehicles.
Dogs are extremely sensitive to high temperatures. Even being in a car that is too hot for a short time can be life-threatening for them. There was therefore an urgent need for a reliable solution to monitor temperatures insides the police vehicles and ensure that the dogs were never exposed to any danger.
We have faced this challenge and developed an innovative temperature monitoring solution in close cooperation with the Thurgau cantonal police during a test phase. This solution is based on state-of-the-art sensor technology, wireless connectivity and a user-friendly software platform.
The temperature sensors were strategically placed inside the police vehicles to ensure precise temperature measurements could be taken. As soon as the temperature reaches a critical threshold value, the system automatically sends a warning message to the relevant police officers on site. The responsible personnel can also call up real-time data using a mobile app to continuously monitor the situation.
Implementing our temperature monitoring solution can have an immediate positive impact. The sensors in equipped police vehicles measure the current temperature and display it in real time in the app. This allows the responsible personnel to act quickly.
This solution is also intended to improve the well-being of police dogs. The police officers can concentrate on their duties without having to constantly worry about the safety of their four-legged friends. This can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of police work in the future.
Our collaboration with the police force to develop this temperature monitoring solution for police vehicles should help to ensure the safety and well-being of service dogs in the future. We are proud to be able to contribute to improving the protection and support for these extraordinary animals.
